Born in Gapan, Nueva Ecija, Nida Blanca was the daughter of an American soldier father John William Jones, Jr. and a Filipina mother with Tagalog roots named Inocencia Velez Guinto. She began her acting career at the tender age of 15.

Blanca starred in films during the 1950s, most of which she co-starred alongside Nestor de Villa. She gained further prominence in the television sitcom John en Marsha (1973–1990), where she played the wife who sticks by her poor husband (played by Dolphy) despite her rich mother's constant harping. She starred in over 200 films and television shows, and won numerous awards for her performances.
