Early Life and Education

<p>
Kidlat Tahimik was born on October 3, 1942, in Baguio City. He pursued his education at the <a href="https://kahimyang.com/kauswagan/articles/1188/today-in-philippine-history-june-18-1908-the-university-of-the-philippines-was-established" class="news_link">University of the Philippines</a> Diliman, where he served as the President of the UP Student Council from 1962 to 1963. After his undergraduate studies, Tahimik moved to the United States to attend the <a href="https://www.wharton.upenn.edu/" class="news-link-ext" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Wharton School</a> at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he earned a Master in Business Administration.

Career Beginnings
</h4>
<p>
Upon his return to the Philippines, Tahimik began his career as an independent filmmaker. However, his journey was not straightforward. He worked as a researcher for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris from 1968 to 1972. This experience in Europe would later influence his filmmaking.
