Early Life and Career

Rudy Robles was born Pastor Lluviosa Robles on April 29, 1910, in Tacloban, Leyte to Ildefonso Robles and Magdalena Lluvioso. He began his schooling in his home town and then in Cebu before emigrating to the United States. He completed high school and college in California, where he excelled in debating and acting.

His acting career took off when producer Samuel Goldwyn reportedly discovered him while he was working as a bellhop at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Hollywood. Goldwyn gave him the screen name Rudy Robles, and his journey in the world of cinema began.
