Early Beginnings
</h4>

The history of PGH dates back to 1907 when the Philippine Commission passed Act No. 1688, allocating approximately ₱780,000 for its construction. The cornerstone of the hospital was laid on February 28, 1908, and the construction was awarded to H. Thurber of the Manila Construction Company. By November 30, 1909, the structural works for the central administration building, surgical pavilion, dispensary, out-clinic, and several ward pavilions were completed.

Inauguration and Early Years
</h4>

PGH officially opened its doors to the public on September 1, 1910. Initially, it had 330 beds and was primarily established to cater to the health needs of indigent Filipinos. The hospital quickly became a cornerstone of medical care in the country, providing essential services to the underserved population.
