Early Beginnings
</h4>

The Manila Trade School was founded upon the enactment of <a href="https://kahimyang.com/articles/2984/january-21-1901-the-department-of-public-instruction-in-the-philippines-was-established-through-act-no-74" class="news_link">Act No. 74</a> by the United States Philippine Commission. Its primary goal was to instruct Filipinos in useful trades. Initially housed near Ateneo de Manila in Intramuros, the school later moved to the Exposicion Regional de Filipinos in Calle Padre Faura and then to the City Shops in Calle Arroceros.

Evolution and Growth
</h4>

In 1910, MTS was renamed the Philippine School of Arts and Trades (PSAT). The school began offering intermediate grade courses and eventually phased out the primary school level. By 1916, PSAT had relocated to a new campus in Ermita, Manila. Over the years, the school expanded its curriculum to include practical electricity, marine engineering, and other industrial courses.
