The Philippine-American War erupted in 1899 following the Spanish-American War, as Filipino revolutionaries sought independence from American rule. The Battle of Balantang was part of the Visayan theater of the war, where Filipino forces aimed to reclaim territories occupied by American troops.

The Battle

Led by General Pascual Magbanua and his sister <a href="https://kahimyang.com/kauswagan/articles/683/today-in-philippine-history-october-13-1868-teresa-magbanua-was-born-in-pototan-iloilo" class="news_link">Teresa Magbanua</a>, Filipino revolutionaries launched a well-coordinated counterattack against the U.S. forces stationed in Jaro. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, the Filipino forces managed to retake the town of Jaro from the American troops. The battle resulted in significant casualties on both sides.
