Megiddo, a strategic city-state located in the Jezreel Valley, was a key fortress controlling the main trade routes between Egypt and Mesopotamia. The city was part of a coalition of Canaanite states that rebelled against Egyptian rule, led by the kings of Kadesh and Megiddo.

The Canaanites were a people who lived in the land of Canaan, which is now the territory of Israel, Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza, and parts of Syria and Lebanon.

The Battle
