Early Years and Growth
</h4>
<p>
The university's original mission was anchored on instruction, research, and extension. The first president of MSU was Dr. Antonio S. Isidro, who was previously the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the <a href="https://kahimyang.com/kauswagan/articles/1188/today-in-philippine-history-june-18-1908-the-university-of-the-philippines-was-established" class="news_link">University of the Philippines</a>. The main campus in Marawi City started with 282 students and 12 faculty members in its pioneering classes in 1962. Over the years, MSU has grown into a multi-campus supra-regional university system, serving over 69,000 students across various levels with nearly 3,100 faculty members.

Expansion and Development
</h4>
<p>
MSU has expanded significantly since its inception. It now comprises several campuses located in major centers in Mindanao and Sulu, including:

</ul>
<p>
Additionally, three former CHED-Supervised Institutions have been integrated into the MSU System:

Lanao National College of Arts and Trade, 
</li>
<li>
Lanao Norte Agricultural College, and 
</li>
<li>
Maigo School of Arts and Trade.
