Early Life and Education

Manny Villar is the second of nine children born to Manuel Montalban Villar Sr., a government employee, and Curita Bamba, a seafood vendor. Growing up in a poor family, Manny learned the value of hard work early on. He helped his mother sell shrimp and fish at the Divisoria Market to support his education. His determination to improve his family's living conditions drove him to excel academically.

Villar attended the University of the Philippines (UP), where he earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees in Business Administration and Accountancy. Even as a student, he continued to work hard, balancing his studies with his responsibilities at the market.
