Operation Exodus
</h4>
<p>
The operation, codenamed <i style="letter-spacing">"Oplan Exodus"</i>,  aimed to capture or neutralize high-profile terrorists Zulkifli Abdhir, also known as Marwan, and Abdul Basit Usman. Marwan was a notorious Malaysian bomb-maker linked to several terrorist activities in Southeast Asia. The mission was meticulously planned, with the SAF commandos tasked with serving arrest warrants on these dangerous individuals.

The Clash
</h4>
<p>
In the early hours of January 25, 2015, the SAF commandos launched their operation in the village of Tukanalipao, Mamasapano. While the mission successfully neutralized Marwan, it came at a devastating cost. The commandos encountered fierce resistance from combined forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). The ensuing firefight led to the deaths of 44 SAF commandos, 18 MILF fighters, and five BIFF members.
