Humble Beginnings: From BAS to BNAS  
</h3>

VSU traces its roots to June 2, 1924, when it was established as the Baybay Agricultural School (BAS) through a Provincial Board Resolution. Initially, BAS aimed to provide basic agricultural education to local students. In 1934, it was renamed Baybay Agricultural High School (BAHS) and later transformed into the Baybay National Agricultural School (BNAS) in 1938 under Commonwealth Act No. 313. This marked the institution's first major step toward formalizing agricultural education in the region.

Expansion and Growth: VAC and ViSCA  
</h3>
<p>
On June 19, 1960, BNAS was elevated to the Visayas Agricultural College (VAC) through Republic Act No. 2831. This transition allowed the institution to expand its academic offerings and focus on higher education. By May 24, 1974, VAC was further upgraded to the Visayas State College of Agriculture (ViSCA) under Presidential Decree No. 470, solidifying its role as a center for agricultural research and education. During this period, ViSCA experienced rapid growth, integrating four other institutions in Leyte in 1999 to form a five-campus system.
