Guido de Lavezaris: Spanish Colonial Leader in the Philippines

Guido de Lavezaris (c. 1512–1581) was a pivotal yet oft-overlooked figure in the early Spanish colonial history of the Philippines. As the second Governor General of the archipelago, his tenure from 1572 to 1575 marked a critical period of consolidation and expansion for Spain's nascent colony. While his governorship was relatively brief, his contributions - and controversies - left a lasting imprint on the Philippines' colonial trajectory.
