Early Life and Education

<p>
Born on October 4, 1944, in San Pablo, <a href="https://kahimyang.com/articles/3174/the-history-of-laguna-province-philippines" class="news_link">Laguna</a>, Victor Corpus grew up in a family with strong military ties. His father, Col. Vicente Corpus, served in the AFP Medical Corps, which influenced Victor's eventual path. A bright and athletic youth, Corpus was active in the Boy Scouts, excelled in boxing and track and field, and was deeply religious, even considering a path to priesthood.

He pursued his education at De La Salle University before entering the <a href="https://kahimyang.com/articles/3155/the-history-of-the-philippine-military-academy" class="news_link">Philippine Military Academy</a> (PMA) in 1963, at his father's insistence.
</p>
<p>
At the PMA, Corpus was exposed to radical ideas, reportedly joining the Kabataang Makabayan, a leftist youth organization, though membership was not yet banned. These early political influences shaped his worldview, sowing seeds of discontent with the government. He graduated in 1967 as part of the "Dimasupil" class.
