Aman Dangat: Last Mangpus of Malakdang
Aman Dangat, also known by his Ivatan name "Kenan", is one of the Philippines' most significant yet underappreciated heroes of indigenous resistance against Spanish colonialism. As the powerful Mangpus (chieftain) of Malakdang in Sabtang Island, Batanes, he led the last great Ivatan uprising from 1785 to 1791, defending his people's ancestral rights and traditional way of life against the encroaching Spanish colonial system.
