Noriel interpreted the withdrawal as a direct order to carry out the original death sentence. On <time datetime="1897-05-10">May 10, 1897</time>, a squad of soldiers under the command of Major <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A1zaro_Macapagal" class="news-link-ext" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lazaro Macapagal</a> escorted the Bonifacio brothers to <b>Mount Nagpatong</b>, where they were shot to death.
