<p>
He rebuilt the cathedral in Intramuros that was damaged by the 1645 earthquake.  It had 3 naves all of free stone and rubble-work masonry.  The 

cathedral was finished shortly after he died.

It was the common report, and an established fact, that he died a virgin, and was beloved to the utmost for his virtue.
</p>

On the day of his death, was also the ceremony of the taking of oath of allegiance to the new King, Carlos II.  Carlos II succeeded Felipe IV who 

died on Setptember 17, 1667.  Carlos II, an infant, reigned under the regency of his mother, Mariana of Austria, until his fifteenth year.  He 

reigned until the end of the seventeenth century.
