The mentioned rain gauge will automatically gave the readings of the measurement of the rainfull while the former rain gauge will have to be read from its measurement levels, Engr. Clavedo added. The modern equipments were scheduled to be received by those municipalities identified anytime within this year, he added.


Meanwhile, Clavedo also disclosed that DOST will soon deliver landslide and flood sensors for St. Bernard specifically Barangays Hindag-an and Bolod-Bolod as recommended by St. Bernard Municipal Mayor Rico Rentuza.


Clavedo said the new sensor technology will be detected before the landslide will occur in an area. Wherein the soil will expand underneath and could be determined by the sensor. Hence, there will be many minutes for the residents to escape before the land fall down.


He added that this is the technology being utilized by developed countries to detect landslide occurrences thereby minimize unnecessary loss of lives.### (PIA SoLeyte/esg)
