Recently, the MDRRMC conducts orientation to officers of Parents Teachers Association of all elementary school levels of 

Catarman I Central School as part of its integrated approach promoting the involvement and participation of various 

sectors towards sustainable risk reduction operation.


According to Mayor Rolando “Capo” Carpio, there should be a systematic and precise procedures to be followed when 

disaster strikes; steps that is easy to execute, easy to do and adaptable in actual scenario.


Mayor Carpio pushes for the establishment of school-base quick response team and school base reactors who can provide 

immediate response at times disaster strikes.


As disaster response mostly anchored on volunteerism, the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council of 

Catarman strengthens the capabilities and capacities of various groups from the government to NGOs and private sectors as 

effective partners in mitigating and preparing for, responding to and recovering from the impact of disasters.
