Consequently, those who have experience are wont to declare that the faith enters into the Indians through the eyes; and hence it seems worthy of consideration that it was the apostle St. Thomas whom our Lord 229 had prepared for the teaching of the Indians - he who desired that the belief in his glorious resurrection might enter through the eyes: Nisi videro . . . non credam (John xx, 25).
