Vilma Santos started her acting career at the age of nine in the film <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0189161/" class="news-link-ext" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Trudis Liit</a> (1963), which earned her the FAMAS Best Child Actress award. Her career spans over six decades, during which she has played dramatic roles in film and television in the Philippines.

She has portrayed a wide range of award-winning roles and has been a consistent box-office draw despite being in the industry for nearly six decades. She won the FAMAS Award for Best Actress for her dual role in "Dama de Noche" (1972) and portrayed the superhero Darna in four films beginning with "Lipad, Darna, Lipad!" (1973).
