Early Life and Education
</h4>
<p>
Adriano Hernandez was born to Fernando Hernandez and Lucia Dayot, both prominent members of the principalía class in Dingle.  His maternal grandfather and uncle had served as gobernadorcillos (local leaders) in the same town.
</p>
<p>
He attended the Escuela Catolica de Dingle (Dingle Catholic School) and later studied at the <a href="https://kahimyang.com/articles/2987/history-of-ateneo-de-manila-university" class="news_link">Ateneo Municipal</a> in Manila.
</p>
<p>
His elder brother, General Julio D. Hernandez, would later become the Secretary of War during the revolutionary period.
</p>

Revolutionary Activities
</h4>
<p>
Fully engaged in agriculture until October 1898, Hernandez's life took a dramatic turn when the revolution erupted.  He organized a revolutionary movement in Iloilo against the Spanish colonial authorities and later against the United States.
