Early Beginnings and Education

Her parents, Feliciano Genuino Salonga and Ligaya Alcantara Imutan, recognized her exceptional talent from an early age. Lea's journey began in Philippine musical theater productions as a child. 
</p>
<p>
Lea finished her high school studies at the O. B. Montessori Center located in Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila. Here, she was not only a Bergamo 1 Student but also took an active role in various school productions. She further honed her musical talents by joining the extension program of the University of the Philippines College of Music, which focused on nurturing gifted children in music and stage movement.

<p>
While studying biology during her first year at Ateneo de Manila University, with an initial goal of pursuing a medical career, she auditioned for Miss Saigon. Later on, during a career transition in the early 2000s in New York, she took the opportunity to study Philosophy and European History at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus.
