Known by his nicknames Sonny, Big J, and Jawo, Jaworski is a former professional basketball player, head coach, and politician who served as a Senator of the Philippines from 1998 to 2004.

Jaworski's journey into basketball began in the streets of Manila. He rose to prominence in the collegiate leagues, where he played for the University of the East Red Warriors in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

His professional basketball career spanned over two decades, during which he played for several teams including YCO Painters, Meralco, Toyota, and Ginebra San Miguel. Jaworski was a formidable player, earning numerous accolades such as the PBA Most Valuable Player in 1978, 13-time PBA champion, and 6-time PBA Mythical First Team. He also represented the Philippines in several FIBA Asia Championships.
