Early Life and Career

Ocampo originally studied Law (Letran College, Manila, 1928-1929), Commerce (Far Eastern University, 1929 to 1930), and Creative Writing (Valenzuela School of Journalism under Manuel E. Arguilla, 1930 to 1931). He worked as a writer before he taught himself the visual arts. He worked in various periodicals such as Taliba newspaper and Manila Sunday Chronicle magazine. He also worked as a scriptwriter and director for television, and produced and directed for the Filipino Players Guild.
