Early Life and Ancestry
</h4>
<p>
Humabon, also known as Sri Hamabar, was the son of Sri Bantug, and the grandson of Sri Lumay. His ancestor, Sri Lumay, a native from Sumatra and a member of the Chola Dynasty, established the Rajahnate of Cebu. Sri Bantug, the youngest son of Sri Lumay, ruled a kingdom known as Singhapala. After Bantug's death, Humabon became the Rajah or King of Cebu.

Encounter with Ferdinand Magellan
</h4>

Humabon's rule was characterized by the advent of Magellan in the Philippines in 1521. Humabon extended hospitality to the foreigners, which laid the foundation for an unexpected alliance. 
</p>

This alliance led to significant cultural and religious exchanges. Humabon and his people discovered the world beyond their shores through these interactions. They learned about Christianity and were captivated by its teachings. 
</p>
<h4>
Conversion to Catholicism
</h4>
<p>
Humabon, his wife, Hara Amihan, and his subjects were the first known Christian converts in the Philippines. However, since there were no Catholic priests in Cebu from 1521 to 1565, this Christianity was not practised until the return of the Spaniards to Cebu. This conversion marked a turning point that would reshape the religious fabric of the island and impact future generations.
