In a statement obtained by this writer, the NPA’s Herminio Alfonso Command, through its spokesperson Isabel Santiago, also admitted that they had rescued their comrade-in-arms identified as Dennis Rodenas while he was being transported to DPPF to serve the life verdict meted on him for illegal possession of explosives by a court in Ozamis City.


The BJMP vehicle bearing plate number SKC 786 with 11 BJMP personnel and seven other prisoners on board was flagged down by the NPAs at Kitaotao, Bukidnon around 3:30 Thursday morning.


Santiago said during that time, the NPA had been mounting a checkpoint in Maluso, Barangay Sinuda, Kitaotao, Bukidnon to rescue their comrade who was convicted based on the evidence “planted by the Philippine Army-Armed Forces of the Philippines”.


Santiago said the NPAs held for investigation Jail Insp. Murphy Todyog, a member of PNPA Class 2008; Jail Warden Eric Llamasares, a member of PNPA Class 2007; Senior Jail Officer (SJO2) Rogelio Beguntes and Jail Officer 1 Rolando Bajuyo Jr.


The NPAs, however, let three other BJMP personnel to proceed to their destination together with other prisoners on board.


Santiago further claimed that the group seized at least four M-16 armalite rifles and six handguns from the BJMP authorities. (PNA)
