Now known as Philippine Heart Center, it is a hospital and research center with the most modern facilities for heart and related diseases in the country.
</p>
<p>
Its first director was Dr. Avenilo P. Aventura, who had performed many pioneering operations in the Philippines, including the first successful renal transplantation in 1970.
</p>
<p>
At present, the Heart Center continues to bring renewed hope not just to Filipinos but to the people of the Asia-Pacific region as well as other countries who look to this medical facility as a well-spring of a healthier and longer life.
</p>
<p>
It has gained a reputation as one the busiest Congenital Heart Surgery centers in the region where patients travel to the Philippines and receive quality service at reasonable prices.
