"I don't think so ... He's not interested", Duterte said in a chance interview when asked if Marcos will accept the DILG post.


He, however, did not elaborate if the post was offered to him. 


Marcos, who lost to then Representative Leni Robredo in the vice presidential race in 2016 but is contesting her electoral victory, is still prohibited from occupying a government position. The appointment ban, however, will be lifted in June.


Malacañang had also earlier denied that Marcos will be taking over the DILG post.


"Frankly, I don't have any knowledge of that," presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella was quoted as saying when asked about the reported imminent appointment of Marcos as DILG secretary. 


"As far as I'm concerned, I have not received anything (about the supposed appointment of Marcos as DILG head)," he added.


Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno has previously expressed readiness to be replaced if that would be the decision of Duterte. 


"With the information being floated about the change at the helm of the DILG, I take no offense whatsoever," he said.


"It is business as usual for me as I dispense my duties and functions with the blessings of President Duterte," Sueno stressed.


Marcos has remained mum about the issue.


Following Robredo's victory, Bongbong filed an electoral protest and is expecting to win the case.
He filed the case last June 29 to contest the result of the vice presidential race allegedly won by Robredo through cheating.
