<p>
Soros' foundation subsequently moved its offices to Berlin, Germany from Budapest as a result of the Stop Soros legislation that imposed criminal offenses mainly to groups that support migrants and asylum seekers that the mogul, who built his empire from financial markets, has heavily funded.
</p>
<p>
Soros is known as "the man who broke the Bank of England" in 1992, as, along with other currency speculators, he borrowed pounds and then sold them, helping to drive down the price of the British currency and ultimately forcing the United Kingdom to crash out of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism, which made him earn $1 billion.
</p>
<p>
Soros has used his fortune to fund thousands of education, health, human rights and democracy projects, which mostly lean to the liberal democrat persuasion.
</p>

<p>
He is believed to be behind the global effort to topple populist leaders who do not subscribe to the Western thinking of governance.
</p>
<p>
He is particularly dead set against the war on drugs and has once singled out President Rodrigo Duterte for pursuing the crackdown against narcotics syndicates. Soros was believed to have funded the demonization campaign on the anti-narcotics drive, including putschist Antonio Trillanes IV's claim of 30,000 deaths from the time the President assumed office.

Formed in 1979, his OSF now operates in more than 120 countries around the world to mainly spread his brand of bold philanthropy in support of liberal, democratic causes.
</p>

<p>
Soros is suspected to have extensive investments in broadcast firm ABS-CBN and online news outfit Rappler through OSF investments in the much-assailed Philippine Depositary Receipts. Both outfits were branded as having a constant stream of reports biased against the Duterte administration.
</p>
<p>

Several reports link Soros to the Commission on Elections-Smartmatic syndicate, which rigs elections in favor of liberal democrat candidates and has been associated with former US Ambassador Philip Goldberg, who President Duterte asked the American government to remove from his post for meddling in local politics.
</p>
<p>
London-based publication Executive Intelligence Review (EIR) also had reported ties between Soros and Human Rights Watch, which is deeply critical of the anti-drugs campaign of President Duterte.  It said:

"Soros has been the number one funder of Human Rights Watch from its inception." 
</p>

EIR editor Jeff Steinberg said:

"Remember that Soros was a teenage Nazi collaborator in Hungary during the Nazi occupation, an experience he places great importance on in his learning how to profit 'off of tough times'." 
</p>

<p>
Steinberg also warned that Soros remained deeply committed to a concept of what he called "the open society" that encouraged the destabilization of traditional religious and political systems around the world, and that his support for human rights groups encouraged them to attack such structures, too. Steinberg said:

"Soros' support for drug legalization is part of his twisted notion of 'open society' and he uses his vast network of NGO (non-governmental organizations) to destabilize regimes that he sees as opposing Western liberal 'open society'." 
</p>
<p>
"For Soros, the open society is the permissive society, in which a kind of hedonistic calculus prevails." 
</p>

<p>
Soros, of course, has strong alliances with liberal groups including Filipino-American billionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis who heavily funds Liberal Party operations against President Duterte.
</p>
<p>
The President has banned Soros from visiting the country, which the billionaire destabilizer complemented by making his presence felt in the ouster movement.
</p>

George Soros: The operations against President Duterte
