De Lima is celebrating her 61st birthday on August 27. She is detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

De Lima's 138-page motion for bail was filed on Friday by counsel Teddy Esteban Rigoroso, seeking a temporary liberty on bail in the drug charges filed against her, her former driver Ronnie Dayan and former Bureau of Corrections director Rafael Ragos.

On June 2020, her lawyers also filed a motion for bail before the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 166 in Criminal Case 17-166 for alleged conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading.

<p>
De Lima was accused of accepting drug money from high-profile prisoners during her incumbency as Justice secretary during the term of President Benigno Aquino 3rd.
