Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Thursday, August 8, 2020, dismissed as <i>"nonsense"</i> the label of Ashley Shine Keratin Treatment Deep Repair which claims that it was being distributed from Binondo, Manila - a <i>"province of the People's Republic of China."</i>

Earlier in the day, PBA party-list Representative Jericho Nograles called on authorities to investigate and blacklist the beauty product distributed by Elegant Fumes Beauty Products which is owned by a Chinese national.

Nograles said the mislabeling of the product could have been deliberate as it was <i>"hard to dismiss this insult as a simple error."</i>
</p>
<p>
<i>"Any act to undermine our sovereignty must be taken seriously,"</i> said the lawmaker, who sent letters to the Department of Trade and Industry and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to complain about the hair product.
</p>
<p>
But for Roque, the matter should be ignored, he told reporters in a press briefing:

"That's nonsense. It should be ignored since nobody will believe that we are a province of China."

"All of us are loving the country. We are proud to be Filipinos and we will never allow to be subjugated by any country."
