Not that Sandro Marcos, as the 26-year-old grandson of former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. is known, is prepping for a political career or is expected to continue a family tradition after graduating with a master's degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He just wants to be in another "uncomfortable" situation but not in the traditional sense of the word.
</p>
<p>
By uncomfortable situation, he meant the opportunity to learn and in this case, the legislative dynamics and processes of Congress.
</p>
<p>
It was not so long ago that he was also in an uncomfortable situation by being on his own in a boarding school in the U.K. to finish his college education. Being a Marcos did not make him a privileged student which was fine with him because it allowed him take a step back from all the things connected to his family name.
</p>
<p>
Sandro mused that it kept him grounded and made him discover his identity as his own self and not only as a member of a powerful family.
</p>
<p>
Even his dad did not give him advice on how to go about in boarding school because the elder Marcos knew it was better that way. Sandro was thankful for that independence, for allowing him to do his own thing.
</p>

Sandro Marcos told Daily Tribune:
