General Douglas MacArthur: A Legacy of Leadership and Controversy
Douglas MacArthur was born on January 26, 1880, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the son of Arthur MacArthur Jr., a Civil War hero and the third Military Governor of the Philippines, and Mary Pinkney Hardy MacArthur. Following in his father's footsteps, MacArthur attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated at the top of his class in 1903.
