<p>
In 1920, Geronima married Potenciano Pecson, a fellow student at the University of the Philippines who later became a teacher, lawyer, and associate justice of the Court of Appeals. Together, they had two daughters, Urduja and Corazon, and harmonized their professional ambitions with family life, a balance Pecson championed throughout her career.

A Career Rooted in Education

Pecson began her career in 1919 as a classroom teacher at Manila High School and <a href="https://kahimyang.com/articles/3005/the-history-of-ermita-manila-a-journey-through-time" class="news_link">Ermita</a> Elementary School. Her dedication and leadership saw her rise to principal positions at Soler Intermediate School and Santa Clara Primary School (later Gomez Elementary School). When her husband was assigned to Zamboanga, she taught at the Zamboanga Normal School, further honing her expertise in education. Her early experiences as an educator instilled a deep belief in the transformative power of learning, which would later define her legislative priorities.

Advocacy for Women's Rights
</h3>

A fervent suffragette, Pecson played a pivotal role in the fight for Filipino women's right to vote. As a co-founder, board member, treasurer, and first vice-president of the National Federation of Women's Clubs of the Philippines (NFWCP), she advocated tirelessly for gender equality. Her efforts contributed to the historic 1937 plebiscite that granted Filipino women suffrage, a milestone that paved the way for her own political ascent.
