October 9, 1934: a Committee of Seven were appointed to draft the 1935 Constitution
On , the Constitutional Convention of the Philippines appointed a special subcommittee of seven delegates - popularly known as the "Seven Wise Men" (Siete Sabios) - to undertake the critical task of drafting the 1935 Philippine Constitution. Chaired by Senator Filemon Sotto of Cebu, this distinguished body was charged with synthesizing hundreds of draft articles and committee proposals into a single, cohesive fundamental law for the forthcoming Commonwealth government and future independent Republic.
